A rangefinder is an instrument. It should cost what an instrument costs, work when there is no signal, and shut up while you play. That is the whole product argument, and every line of it is something you can check.
$29.99 a year, and that is the whole price list
One price, charged once a year. No weekly plan, no monthly plan that costs more than the yearly one, and no charge that appears because a trial ended — there is no trial to end. If you never pay us anything, the rangefinder still works.
Free is a working rangefinder, not a demo
Every distance, on every hole, on every course you have downloaded: green front, centre and back, water, bunkers, the dogleg, your layup points. No watermark, no rounded numbers, no three-holes-and-then-buy. If it shows you a number, it is the real number.
Nothing is sold to you between the first tee and the last putt
The paid tier is mentioned in exactly one place: a single row in Settings, composed like every other row in Settings. Not on the watch, not on the map, not on the scorecard, not in the round summary. A new screen starts out forbidden from selling you anything and has to argue its way onto the list.
Nothing about you leaves the phone
There is no account, no advertising, no third-party analytics and no tracking across apps. Your position is read on the device, used on the device and never sent anywhere — the app contains no code that could send it. The privacy page says how that was verified.
